Proposed Colorado Bill Will Be Harmful to Housing Industry

The Colorado legislature has proposed a new bill (House Bill 20-1141) that will be detrimental to the Colorado rental market. This proposed bill, while trying to prevent the unethical practices of a small percentage of unscrupulous landlords, will have large negative effects on all landlords, and, in many cases, will make it impractical for investors to provide rental property. Those that continue to provide rental housing will have to increase rent prices to offset the negative regulations this bill will impose. In the end, tenants will suffer.
